Going In A New Direction

It’s been a long time since I’ve posted anything and since my last post, a lot has happened.

I’ve recently gone through a miscarriage, and while it was a difficult thing to go through, I’ve come out stronger than before.

I’ve also come to the realization (thanks to my Dr) that I need to lose more weight. I’m not at a healthy weight for having babies and I knew that. I am not blaming myself for the miscarriage, the Dr said there is no way to know the cause of the miscarriage and the important thing is to focus on my health and that there is no reason we can’t try again.

I’ve decided to lose about 40 more pounds before trying for another baby. I’ve decided to do it by exercise and cutting out sugars and refined carbs. So far, so good! I’ve lost about 9 pounds in one week. I know it’s mostly water weight but it’s encouraging to me.

I’ve been eating lots of veggies, lean protein and high fiber foods. Here is one example:

Pizza with a flax meal crust! It was super yummy!

Oh. I am so sorry about your miscarriage. I have wondered where you went off too. I cannot image going through that.

I am wondering . . . is your after photo current? Because from that photo it doesn’t look like you can lose 40 pounds and be healthy enough to carry a baby. πŸ™‚

Good luck on your continued journey!

Unfortunately my after photo is not current. In that photo I was about 20 pounds away from my goal weight. That picture was taken over a year ago and since that picture, I’ve gained back about 30 pounds, I’m ashamed to say it but it’s true.

Well, while it is not a good thing it is understandable . . . I read a few different blogs, but aren’t you the woman who quit her job and moved across the country and got married all in a span of a few months? I mean, it sounds like you have a bit of stress and are really busy. So it is understandable. It is good that you are on a new path with a new goal. I think that we (I need to re-focus, too) often focus on weight and how we look instead of health. With your reaffirmed goal of being healthy to become pregnant will probalby go a long way in motivating you. Good luck!

And I am relieved to hear that you and your doctor don’t think you need to lose 40 pounds from that picture. Whew! πŸ™‚

Yes, I did move across country and got married within a few months. I also dealt with the death of my grandmother in those months but chose not to mention it at the time because it was to painful. I’m always busy, but I like it, but at the same time it can get stressful. I hesitated admitting that I had gained back a lot of weight but when I’m open and honest on this blog, it seems to help me a lot. Accountability I guess?

Anyways, how are things with you? I have to catch up on your blog!

Yeah, you had a lot going on. Sorry about your grandmother and your other sad loss.

I’m fine, thanks. My blog is a little less personal as I’m trying to share about Nia and stuff I learn along the way.
