I rarely make cake but this recipe is perfect and pretty much fool proof! No special “techniques” just simple mixing and combining, that’s it!
2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
1 T baking powder
1 t sea salt
1 cup unsalted butter, softened
1 1/2 cups granulated sugar
2 1/2 T pure vanilla extract
4 eggs, room temperature
3/4 cup whole milk
First, preheat your oven to 350 degrees.
Sift together the flour, baking powder and salt in a small/medium bowl.
In a large mixing bowl, using an electric mixer, beat butter until soft. Add the sugar and vanilla and continue to mix until light and very fluffy. Mix in the eggs one at a time, making sure each one is well mixed before adding the next.
Once all eggs have been added, alternately add the flour and milk until well mixed, just don’t OVERMIX!
Butter and flour a glass 9×13 baking pan. Add the cake batter and make sure top is even. (The batter should be a little thick but also light and fluffy, don’t worry, that’s how it’s supposed to be!)
Bake for 35 to 40 mins and cool completely, once completely cool, top with whatever you want. I went with basic chocolate frosting. TO DIE FOR! YUM!
